Volunteering with a charity is a great way to give back to your local community whilst learning new skills and gaining valuable experience of the way charities work to make a difference. There are so many fun, exciting and rewarding ways to work with BCHC Charity to help us continue in our mission to enhance patient experience, improve care, and support our NHS colleagues.
Get green fingered!
Our garden areas provide patients and their loved ones with peaceful places to decompress after difficult consultations, process diagnoses or make beautiful memories with their families, as well as providing staff with a calming area to relax during breaks. We are always looking for volunteers to help us with keeping our gardens presentable and beautiful, through basic gardening like weeding, planting, and raking, as well as litter-picking and general clean up.
Sing it out for BCHC
Musical performances are a wonderful way to entertain patients whilst under our care. The benefits of music are well documented, with listening or performing songs linked to improved moods, better sleep, and even enhanced memory. Giving your time to perform for our patients would make their day!
Keen on crafts?
As part of our ongoing commitment to alleviating inpatient boredom, reducing anxiety, and providing home comforts, BCHC Charity are pleased to offer arts and crafts supplies to our inpatient wards. Often, ward staff are (very understandably) too busy to sit with patients to help them create beautiful artworks, cards, or other creations; you can volunteer to help fire up patients’ imaginations and create some wonderful works with them! We also sometimes need help with creating decorations and greetings cards for events and festivities, to help us truly celebrate and spread some cheer across the Trust.
And there’s more…!
As well as our gardening, entertainment, and crafts sessions, we also often need volunteers to help us at our events, such as getting participants on our Snowdon climbs to complete forms and waivers, selling raffle tickets on charity stalls, wrapping festive gifts, giving out leaflets and other information at conferences, and much more.
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to take on individuals for volunteering; due to being a small team, we are currently only able to work with group volunteers. If you work with a company or attend a college or community group that may be interested in volunteering for us as a group, please do speak with your Team Lead or Manager and contact us to discuss our current volunteering opportunities.
